Potable Water Overhead Mains Replacement Completed at Kaiser’s Aluminum Mill
Bronco Industrial recently completed a critical potable water overhead mains replacement at its active aluminum mill, addressing long-standing reliability challenges that had been impacting operations for years.
The project involved replacing more than 1,000 linear feet of deteriorating 12-inch and 8-inch water mains, which had been a recurring source of leaks and mill stoppages. Our objective was clear: deliver a long-term solution that improves system reliability while minimizing disruption to ongoing production.
Executing Above an Active Production Environment
One of the defining challenges of this project was its location. All work was performed approximately 50 feet above a fully operational, 24/7 production floor, requiring a high level of planning, safety awareness, and coordination.
The successful delivery of this project relied heavily on detailed pre-planning and close coordination with the client’s team. Work had to be carefully sequenced to ensure installation activities had minimal impact on mill operations while maintaining an efficient schedule.
Equally important was the team’s ability to remain flexible. As important as our planning was, our ability to be flexible and take advantage of installation opportunities arising from unplanned and unexpected outages in mill production was equally instrumental.
Delivering Long-Term Reliability
By replacing aging infrastructure with a newly installed overhead system, the project significantly improves the reliability of the mill’s potable water network. The upgraded system is designed to reduce leaks, minimize downtime, and support uninterrupted operations moving forward.
Projects like this highlight Bronco’s ability to execute complex work in active industrial environments where planning, precision, and adaptability are just as critical as technical capability.
This project reflects the Bronco team’s commitment to delivering solutions for our clients that perform under real-world conditions.
